The aim of the Finnish Ecosystem Observatory (FEO) is to create a national cooperation model and data platform to support the extensive monitoring and assessment of and research into the state of ecosystems.
FEO will develop the managing of data on biodiversity, ecosystems and ecosystem services so that it would be easy for public servants, researchers as well as citizens to make use of the information.
FEO will develop the monitoring of biodiversity and the state of ecosystems using solutions based on remote sensing, systematic field surveys and artificial intelligence.
FEO will support making use of data on nature as part of decision-making by advancing accessibility, openness and the usability of information.
Finnish Ecosystem Observatory (FEO)
FEO brings together scattered activities that support the monitoring of the state of nature and improves elements of research and monitoring infrastructures where needed. The project advances the utilisation and development of observation networks, remote sensing data, analysis algorithms and open data and reporting products. The rapidly increasing amount of different types of digital data, the increased openness and accessibility of data, and the development of analysis and modelling methods now make founding the system relevant.
